Because CMI believes that communities themselves create the impetus for their own change, we endeavor to bolster local governments – this is the only way growth will be effective. By creating comprehensive long-range plans with local bodies we strive towards long-term change.
We try to get all local bodies involved to ensure participatory planning and implementation. Because school systems fail to rely on Village Education Committees (VEC), Parent Teacher Associations (PTA), and Ward Citizen Forums (WCF), we work with and educate these bodies to strengthen their resolve. We also raise awareness for the Right to Information Act (RTI), which enables schools and communities to receive information transparently. By involving the school and the community, our mission is to implement a holistic and sustainable model for development, with the community itself at the center.
